Today We Become Rooted, So Tomorrow We Can Grow

It’s been exactly one month since it was announced that I would have to stay home from my job due to Covid-19. I know none of us have been through something exactly like this before in our lifetime, but for some reason I didn’t think we would be where we are now, weeks later. Call it being naive or call it being hopeful, either way I’ve learned quite a lot during this time with myself. However, this post isn’t about being productive, bettering yourself or what you should do with your time, your money, or how you should feel. This is about taking care of yourself.

Isolation is one of the biggest triggers for those who battle with their mental health. Mental health is something we all can relate to, can care about, and even learn more about, no matter what state we live in, if we’re essential or non-essential workers, or how we feel about the stay at home order. That’s what we have to remember, while many of us are fighting completely different battles, not one is more important than the other. The unity that we have is that we are all in a time of uncertainty and we must take care of our minds. Why not help each other out in doing so.

So, like many of you, I have been finding ways to keep busy. Being that I love to fall back onto productivity, I originally put this pressure on myself to have accomplished something during this time. And don’t get me wrong, while getting things done has helped me pass time, I’ve found doing things that hold no other purpose but to help me relax, or feel good in the moment, are what I truly enjoy and need during this time.

Coloring has been one of those things that has helped me. With my birthday coming up in 3 days, and Earth Day in 4, I wanted to share something that could help you relax and find a little more peace even if just for a moment. This coloring page represents that there is a light surrounding this time of uncertainty; the earth and humankind are resting right now. I think if we take this pause and use it to breathe, we can making positive strides in our future.

Thank you so much to Adam Miller for bringing my idea to life and for the coolest birthday gift ever!
